Jean-Louis Gallani gained a PhD from Strasbourg University in 1985. He has worked several years on the dynamics of liquid-crystals phase transitions using ultrasound and rheology. In 1997 he joined R. Birgeneau group at MIT for 16 months. After his arrival at IPCMS he has changed his topic to thin molecular films (Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett films), and then to so-called “molecular” magnetism. He now works on the synthesis of nanoparticles and the study of their properties.
Liquid-crystals, phase transitions, rheology, radicals, single-molecule magnets, magnetic hybrid nanoparticles, self-organized systems, XMCD, metamaterials.
